New music!

Hello everyone!  Today I am adding YouTube videos of several of our March concert/festival pieces. 

Concert Choir:

Dirait O- Text, text, text- listen for pronunciation of text and start memorizing!


Domine Fili Unigenite- Fantastic choir here, listen for intonation and style of piece


Sing Me to Heaven- over 150 people singing, but listen for the dynamic contrasts throughout


Rockin Jerusalem- the sound quality of the recording isn't great but the choir is good and this will be close to the tempo we take.


Women's Ensemble:

Ombra Mai Fu- This is from an opera and originally it was a solo aria.  This is to help with pronunciation of the Italian and listen to his phrasing.  The song starts at 0:50.

Upcoming events

Hello everyone,

A few upcoming events to keep you posted on what is going on in the chorus program.
October 2:  USC Fall High School Invitational Honor Choir at St. Andrews Baptist: selected students will have the opportunity to other top high school choral students in the area and work with Dr. Larry Wyatt, Director of Choral Activities at USC.  Students will be notified by me if eligible to attend.

October 26: First chorus concert of the year at White Knoll theater at 7:00 pm (students arrive at 6:30).

November 4-9: All State Auditions:  White Knoll will go one of those days to audition for All State chorus.  If interested in auditioning let me know ASAP (10th-12 grades only).

Rehearsal Tracks:  I have started adding rehearsal tracks to the blog.  Simply follow the link for your voice part, the website that comes up should have a button that says "download file."  Hit the button and a screen should come up with a countdown on it of like 46 seconds, when it reaches 0 hit the button that says "download file." It may take a couple of minutes to download the file depending on your internet speed, but when it is done, it should play on your media player (ex. windows media player).

Welcome Back!

Welcome back students!  I am looking forward to getting the new school year started.  This blog will become an important part of our rehearsal process throughout the year.  I plan on adding tracks for each voice part so you can work on them at home.  This will help speed up our rehearsal process and enable us to increase our understanding of the literature.  I hope you had a great summer and are ready to start the year off strong.
